If you have a busy Monday, this week's email is likely not worth your time.

I don't think too many of you are going to be opening an email from me on the first Monday back from the holidays, thus it wasn't worth spending time on anything of real substance. That being said, I'm attempting Pavlovian conditioning on you lot— when you wake up on Mondays, the first thing I want you to think about is how wonderful it is that you have an email from me waiting for you.

So let's go over some general updates to keep the Monday emails going. Oh joy!

New/Updated Website: I've relaunched the From Mustafa's Desk website. You can now catch up on any past writings you missed. You'll see that you can pick the name of the content series you're looking for.

Time is Money: I realize you only have so much time you want to spend reading an email. To that extent, I've kept the vast majority of the upcoming episodes between 3 to 6 minutes of reading time. Certain episodes have been cut into a Part 1 & Part 2 to keep your reading time at a moderate level.

Premium Content: If you know me, you know I love telling long stories. The stories are long because I have to tell all of these side stories. Some of these side stories are still included, while others I've flushed out to be 500 words.

The longer side stories will be sent out to paid subscribers on Wednesdays. There won't be a side story every week, but when there is one, it'll be a nice way to start your Wednesday.

Paid Tiers: I've revamped the paid tiers. Here's the gist of it.

Dollar General: Access to all premium content for $1 a month.

Ride or Die: Access to all premium content, but you'd rather pay $5 a month.

Whether it's $1 a month, or $5 a month, at least through the first half of 2022, you're essentially getting the same content. In April I'll be releasing Wu-Tang-related content and doing a larger marketing push around the newsletter. To reduce the barriers to conversion, I figured, let's just start the premium content at $1. If people are willing/able to pay more, then great.

If you're currently paying $5 a month, feel free to downgrade. My feelings won't be hurt.

To answer everyone's pressing question: the Ride or Die members will still get a postcard from me. I will be getting more joy out of writing these postcards than you will in receiving them.

712 Hayes: Next Monday, January 10th, the first episode of "712 Hayes" will premiere! Now that the mother of one of my former roommates at 712 Hayes (shout-out Mary) has signed up for the newsletter, I may have to revisit the content that was written.

I still don't know if anyone who didn't cross paths with me in San Francisco will find the series amusing, but I will do my best to make it accessible to all of the subscribers.

'Till then,

Mustafa
